Is it for me?
Coire An T-Sneachda stands as possibly the most accessible (and mispronounced!) of all the high Cairngorm Corries. Highly regarded as a winter climbing venue, it also hold two excellent summer mountaineering lines.
The approach is easy, soon leaving the ski development behind and out of site and leading into a glacial corrie that teems with grouse and the occasional ptarmigan, gentle slopes followed by a boulderfield then steep scree slopes gain the start of the ridge.
This route starts high within the cliff face, creating a sense of commitment and exposure even before the climb truly begins. A succession of buttresses lead to a knife edge ridge and an intimidating final tower on which difficulty can be varied at will. With a qualified and experienced instructor guiding you, you will have the opportunity to attack all the fine, exposed parts of this route head on, making easy climbing moves in complete security.
From the top of the buttress, views from the plateau include all the Northern Cairngorm Munros, such as Braeriach, Ben Macdui, Bynack Mor and Cairngorm. An easy return route to the starting point remains or choose from several options to extend this day and create a truly memorable mountain experience.
