Is it for me?
If you like your scrambles long and remote feeling, you really should consider joining us for this experience. Starting at the historic Glenfinnan moument, we soon leave the tourists behind us as we turn south to follow an easy track alongside Loch Shiel, the ridge obvious and looming ahead.
At a stalkers hut, we leave the path and quickly gain the bottom of the broad ridge. What follows is a succession of slabs and buttresses on which difficulty can be varied at will, each section improves in situation and character and the rock is impeccable throughout. Most sections are avoidable but with a qualified and experienced instructor guiding you, you will have the opportunity to attack all the fine, exposed sections of the route head on, making easy climbing moves in complete security. As the route has avoidable sections and several escape options along its length, it can be cut short if required making it an ideal trip for those without much scrambling experience. The ridge stays broad but the buttresses we climb get steeper, culminating in an impressive final, exposed series of moves on a final tower.
Utilising the easier West flank of the North ridge for retreat, we cross it at a flattening and drop down into Coire Ghiubhsachain, the ground much less steep now, eventually rejoining our approach route and following this back to our start point.
