Is it for me?

Due to the Nevis range gondola, Golden Oldie is a rare beast, an easily accessible high mountain scramble. Leaving the ski centre development behind us, we quickly enter a remote feeling Coire, a long riverside track leading us via a little steep ground to foot of the climb.

After a short slog up steep grass slopes, we encounter the first of several scattered buttresses, on which we can practise the skills required higher up. The buttress soon become consistent rock, with the blunt arete becoming more defined as we ascend. The higher we go, the more fun the route becomes, with a spectacular sharp ridge just before the end. The route ends just 100m away from the summit of Aonach Mor and 1.5km from Aonach Beag. Giving us the option of ticking some summits before we start our easy return to the gondola station.

Aonach Mor 1221m (optional)

Aonach Beag 1234m (optional)
