Is it for me?

Coire An T-Sneachda stands as possibly the most accessible (and mispronounced!) of all the high Cairngorm Corries. Highly regarded as a winter climbing venue, it also holds three excellent, summer mountaineering lines.

This route climbs the west boundary ridge separating Coire an t-sneachda from Coire an Lochain.

The approach is easy, soon leaving the ski development behind and out of site and into a glacial corrie that teems with grouse and the occasional ptarmigan, gentle slopes gain a broad ridge and small descent into a col marks the start of the scrambling.

The route is generally easy, but some optional sections on grooves and buttresses add spice to the route and create a sense of exposure and achievement. As you will have a qualified and experienced instructor guiding you, you will have the opportunity to attack all the fine, exposed parts of this route head on and in complete security.

From the top of the ridge, views from the plateau include all the Northern Cairngorm Munros, such as Braeriach, Ben Macdui, Bynack Mor and Cairngorm. An easy return route to the starting point remains or choose from several options to extend this day and create a truly memorable mountain experience.

Mountains included in route

Stob Coire an t-Sneachda 1176m (Optional)

Cairn Lochan 1215m (Optional)
