Is it for me?
This scramble is special as it is one of only a few summer mountaineering lines on the Creag Meagaidh massif. Allowing you to see some big mountains from a different perspective, whilst maintaining interest in the route itself.
After a good quality approach path through woodland into the dramatic Choire Na h-Uamha, surrounded by 3000ft peaks. Once out of the forest we turn uphill and follow a small, steep burn, crossing a little boggy towards the sweeping ridge.
The route follows a succession of slabs and buttresses on which difficulty can be varied at will. Many sections are avoidable but with a qualified and experienced instructor guiding you, you will have the opportunity to attack all the fine, exposed parts of the route head on, making easy climbing moves in complete security. As the route has avoidable sections it can be cut short if required making this an ideal introductory scrambling experience. Several sections of sharp ridge make for great photos, but the route rarely feels exposed. The route follows the gently curving steep ridge directly to the summit, sometimes much to the surprise of walkers sitting atop it!
The retreat from the route is easy, and downhill throughout. Starting as open mountainside, we eventually pick up a small path that leads us all the way down the mountains broad South-West ridge. Soon after entering the woods again, we come out on to the the road, close to our start point.
