Our five day Scottish Winter Skills, Aviemore course equips you with the complete skill-set for enjoying the mountains in winter. Alongside our friendly, highly experienced instructors, you'll gain confidence in a wide range of winter specific skills. Including how to select and use winter equipment, how to overcome the specific challenges winter navigation presents, how to make accurate avalanche risk assessments and much, much more.

The course is based in Aviemore, giving exceptional access and many options of reliable winter hills.
Pre-requisites
Just a good level of summer hill walking experience and a dollop of determination.

Content
The course is flexible and takes into account the prevailing conditions and your pervious experience, but generally covers the following topics in a thorough and practical format;
Fitness and preparation, forecast interpretation, avalanche theory and assessment, objective selection, personal and team equipment selection and use, basic and advanced winter movement skills, winter specific mountain navigation, axe and crampon use for progression and emergency arrest, emergency shelter building, winter expedition skills and how to access steep terrain.
With all the topics and workshops taking place during a journey into the Scottish mountains, this course gives you everything you need to explore the mountains all year round, in a fun, friendly and above all authentic way.
